A327, War, Peace Modernity TMA 01 Results and on to TMA 02

So the course is now in full swing. I think it's fair to say that this one is very heavy on the reading. It's all cool though. I have been getting the bus to work and back so I have been making the most of that.
And you know what I'm like for watching Youtube videos for a bit of quick revision, so it is all good.
This first section has been about the origins of World War One. The funny thing is that you think that you know all this stuff, we've all read about it in school and we all know about Franz Ferdinand and the Alliance system, but it's so much more than that. I love the subject. It's fascinating and incredibly heartbreaking at the same time. It's all too easy to get caught up in the theory but really what really matters is the experience of the people who were there at the time, and I always keep that in mind.

So I struggled my way through this one, as I struggle through every essay. It's not meant to be easy, is it, that's the point. I wrestle with myself and my own thoughts each time I sit down to write. If it wasn't a struggle then I would be worried. I got a distinction, which is great. Again, setting the bar high for myself, which in turn brings more pressure, but I really can't switch off. This year was meant to be my 'easy' year too.

What Am I Reading?

The reading list on the University website is as long as my arm. However, because I work at Liverpool University I have taken advantage and ventured to their library. I have LOTS of books now, and I just take one on the bus with me every day.

What Am I Watching?

A friend recommended 37 Days - a BBC re-telling of the days leading up to the war. It was brilliant. Definitely recommend it. I think it was only three episodes at around an hour each, told through the eyes of the key leaders at the time.

I also watched this

So as you can tell I'm very busy!

On to the next TMA now, which is about revolution and war. Absolutely loving this course.
