The Ups And Downs Of Britmums Live

I know I already wrote a post about finding my own voice. But that was all a bit ME ME ME. But, you know what, it was a big deal for me.

But that's that.

Now I'd like to say a bit about the event itself, show you some pictures and maybe a video from the actual awards ceremony. OK I made one myself. About BOOBS. I'm great with metaphors, you'll see what I mean.

Good Things

* I met so many amazing bloggers. So many amazing people with brilliant experiences to share. Some people are so different to how I would expect - I suppose you never can gauge people from Twitter or a blog.

* Joanne Dodd from Mummy2Five saved me all day. From toilet paper on my shoe, from lost tube tickets, to wardrobe malfunctions on the train. Yes! She had a safety pin!

Pretty Lady!

* Keynote speakers. They were amazing. All of them. I was so proud to be a part of that. It was a true emotional rollercoaster - I was in tears all the way through. So many important issues that affect us all were addressed with confidence, grace and were received amazingly by the audience. Please do check out the line-up and read their posts here.

* YAY I went to London. Never been.

* Susanna and Jennifer the organisers are just lovely. No, I'm not being a suck-up. I was chatting to them at the wine-tasting session with Lindemans. Of course I was at the wine-tasting session - derr. It was amazing as well.

Bad Things

Well there weren't THAT many.

The Awards. I didn't win the LAUGH category, but that was all cool. Helen from Just A Normal Mummy won - congrats to her, well deserved, do check out her blog. I honestly thought everyone in the Laugh category was a deserved winner. I said HYA to Helen twice too - "I'm sure I know you...." BONKERS. I'm always embarrassing myself.

The 'thing' about the awards was that Katy Hill (of Blue Peter fame) as lovely and as funny as she is, hosted the awards, and actually won one of the awards too. I found it strange that a celebrity with a huge following was competing against 'normal' (for want of a better word) bloggers.

It was a bit like this:

Maybe. You see what I am saying.

* I sometimes found it a bit overwhelming. I had to step outside and phone home. I'm not used to crowds, and it's not that I am shy but I just felt a bit out of it at times. Warren said "Go back in and stop being miserable."  That fixed me. I was there to enjoy myself after all.

The wine tasting cheered me up no end, and settled my nerves for later. Drink responsibly, kids.

* I am fairly useless at photography. I took ones from our night out.

See anyone you know?
I think they were thinking, "Who is that d*ck head with a camera round her neck?"

Will I be going back next year?

Of course :)
