Review: The Richmond Liverpool

As you know, having three children makes it really difficult for me and Warren to have time together and just switch off. I am often complaining about being stuck in and we do go a long time without spending real quality time together outside the house. However, Christmas is the one occasion where we definitely make time for ourselves. Instead of spending money on gifts for each other that we may not need, we tend to spend our money on spending time together. We organise a Christmas night out, and like to spend the night away from home in a hotel. We don't usually go very far with the children being still very young - usually Manchester or Liverpool. This time we were really excited to be invited to review The Richmond in Liverpool. An absolute Christmas treat for us both.

Our plan was to spend the night in Liverpool, children staying over at my parents and just to have a real chilled out, luxurious date night! Warren had bought tickets to see The Real People and we planned a few drinks afterwards then back to the hotel for a much-needed treat. A full night's undisturbed sleep, of course...! We had a fantastic night, so what follows is our review of the hotel.

Booking & Communication

It was really easy to book, we just did it online.  We were sent a welcome email with everything we needed to know about their valet parking service, just £12 overnight and checking in and out times. It was really great to have everything in one email, including our reservation number and everything. I knew if I had a problem I could just email them straight back - that was good to know.

First Impressions

This hotel is absolutely first class. It is a grade II listed building, and really is something special. I will let some photographs do some of the talking for me!

The reception and bar area is looking very festive at the moment - classy, plush and just really stunning.

Staff

The staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful. Warren has secretly arranged for a bottle of Moet to be put in the room for when we arrived, much to my surprise! He said that he popped in a few days before and asked them if they could put it in a bucket of ice with glasses - staff were more than happy to help. I think this was a lovely touch, from them both - the bottle was sat in the bucket waiting for us when we got there. Fabulous.

Rooms

Our room was stunning. Plush, luxurious...I was so impressed. There is free wi-fi throughout, a flat screen TV with Smart capabilities on the wall. Our room also had a small kitchen area with integrated fridge/freezer. The cupboards had utensils and crockery - great if you were staying on business for a few days. There was a mini-bar, tea/coffee facilities...everything we needed really. We also had a robe each and slippers. Needless to say we sat in complete bliss for about an hour, drinking champagne and listening to music using the Internet on the TV.

I must say though that the star of the show was the bed. I have never had a sounder night's sleep - the bed was really high and an absolute dream.

The bathroom was great. I popped a bath bomb in and relaxed for a while. We had gone there to unwind and it was so easy to.

The hotel also has a spa and hair salon. We did not make use of these facilities as we were short on time - if we had been staying longer then I definitely would have booked in, it all looked amazing.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel. It was just perfect. I absolutely can not fault the place. If some luxury time is what's needed, then book yourself in here, you will love it. We will definitely be returning!

We were given the hotel room at a discounted rate in exchange for an honest review. All words and opinions are our own.
