Review: Softly Snail Activity Fun House

We were really over the moon to be given a review opportunity with Little Bird Told Me. We were chosen to review this gorgeous Softly Snail Activity Fun House and couldn't wait to get cracking with our toy testing! With Rosie just about turning 6 months old we knew that Rosie would be super-excited to test out this gorgeous toy. She is just at that age where little ones love to explore different sounds, textures and colours, so I knew as soon as we received the toy that it would be a hit with her.

About the Product

When it arrived in the post, I popped it on the table away from prying eyes. Rosie and Alice were due their naps and I thought I would wait until they were wide awake to give it to them I had to take the photo of the packaging secretly!

The toy is 28 x 25 x 15cm and is made of soft plush material, apart from the wheels, which are wooden. It is suitable for children aged 6 months plus, so I knew that although it it closer to Rosie's age range, that Alice would be all-in getting involved in playing with it!

So the toy is a lovely little colourful pastel coloured snail. It has two antennae, one of which you can pull and the lovely tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star plays as it winds back in. It is stood upon removable wooden wheels which are used to move the snail - your child can pull it along the floor with the little attached lead of fabric coming from the front. On the back of the snail is a house and inside is a little caterpillar! Rosie especially loves this little chap, he is also a rattle!

The roof of the house opens up as a mirror, and there is also a door on the side of the house, inside the door there is a flap for you to pop in a little photo to play peek-a-boo with!

My children absolutely love this toy. What I love about it is that there is plenty to discover - little ones love to learn and play in their own little world and this is a toy that really gets them learning and discovering new things. It has been a joy to watch Rosie play with the snail these past few days - everything is new and fresh to her little eyes and her hands - it's great to see her taking it all in, and this toy really fired her imagination and shown me just how much she has come on in herself.

Rosie is not yet sitting up so she can not yet pull the toy along, but of course Alice could and she obviously demonstrated this at pace, with as much gusto as you can imagine! For Rosie, she was quite happy just sat playing and discovering the toy.

Our Verdict

I don't think I have to say that we absolutely would recommend this. The babies loved it, and I can see Rosie playing with this toy for a long time to come - there is so much for a 6 month old to discover from it that I can't see her getting bored for a long time!

The Softly Snail Activity Fun House costs £25 and can be purchased direct from Little Bird Told Me website.
