Review: My Little Pony - Welcome to Ponyville DVD

Now I used to love My Little Pony as a kid - I used to collect the little ponies on my window sill as a child, brushing their hair with their little combs and 'galloping' them across the window ledge! When we were offered the chance to review their new DVD, I jumped at the chance. Alice is a real girlie girl and I knew that she would be all over
My Little Pony!
without spoiling the DVD for you, I can tell you that Twilight Sparkle is a very special little pony with quite the gift for magic studying. As part of her education, she has been set a task by the Royal Princess Celestia of Equestria to learn the true meaning of friendship.
In the magical village of Ponyville, Twilight Sparkle sets off on her task with her best friend, a purple dragon called Spike and makes some new friends along the way - Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Applejack. The episodes follow their journey as they discover the true meaning of friendship.

As a parent I appreciated this series as I found it to be quite educational as well as fuelling my girls imaginations. Emily watched it as well, and I thought that it contained some lovely messages about friendship, conflict and resolution. It was also funny in parts and well written. As it turned out you don't really have to be a girlie girl like Alice to enjoy it - the animation is colourful and vibrant - but the storyline is really entertaining and kept us all watching.

Alice engrossed in the action!

·       Friendship is Magic – Part 1
·       Friendship is Magic – Part 2
·       Griffon the Brush-off
·       Look Before You Sleep
·       Swarm of the Century
·       Owl's Well That Ends Well

As you can see Alice was enthralled - she managed to sit still for one episode at a time at least! The DVD included a short ad for the new My Little Pony toys - Alice said, and I kid you not, 'Alice have one.'

Oh well, at least I'm not short of ideas for Christmas!

Available for the first time on DVD, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic- Welcome To Ponyville is available in all good retailers and priced £12.99. Certification U: Suitable for all audiences.
